Rope Shelf

Library

This shelf is a great way to display your child's favourite books. And it's a very easy DIY project, that takes no time at all to do.

What you'll need: thick(er) rope, shelf, 3/8" baby snap clips (2), cable ties(2), eye screws(2), white paint.

Tools: pencil, measuring tape, scissors, lighter/matches.

Rope:

Start by putting a few books on the shelf to see what size you want your rope to be. Cut rope at desired length and burn the ends w/ your lighter (so that your rope won't fray). Paint the burnt ends w/ white paint and let dry. Fish the rope through the bottom full cirlce hook of your baby snap. Make a loop & secure by attaching the ends w/ grip ties. Cut excess tie off.

Hook your clasps to your eye screw hooks on the wall, stack you books et voilà!

Floating shelf:

Measure the distance b/n the 2 holes on the back of your shelf. Using a level, mark your 2 co-ordinating spots on the wall. Drill holes on your marks and insert wall plugs. Screw your screws into the plug, leaving out of the wall about 1/8". Press back of shelf down onto screws until it locks into place.

Using a measuring tape and pencil, make a mark on your wall at about 3" away on each side & 4" above the shelf. Insert eye screw hooks on your marks.
