whimsical girl's banner

April 15th, 2016

Banners are such a beautiful and easy way to add whimsy to a child's playroom or bedroom. I made these for my daughter's Woodland inspired bedroom, to be draped from her teepee to the corners of the room.

What you'll need: 4-6 different pieces of material, long strip of brown finishing ribbon, pencil, ruler, scissors, sewing machine & thread.

First decide what size you'd like your panels to be and make an outline of a triangle w/ a ruler, a little bit larger then your desired size & cut. Make 2 copies for each panel and alternate b/n at least 4 different materials. With the good sides of your material facing in, line up your 2 identical pieces. Do a simple stich w/ your sewing machine along the 2 longer sides of your triangle using a light thread (the top doesn't need to be stiched). Turn your pannel right side out.

Measure & cut your brown finishing ribbon to desired length. Line up your triangle panels in a row and fold ribbon on tops. Pin to set in place before sewing. Use a zig zag stitch and sew a seam along the same horizontal line of the tops.
